Assistant Principal of Kennedy HS to Take on New Role

Dr. Meador Pratt will become principal of Merrick Avenue School.

Recently, the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District announced that Dr. Meador Pratt, current assistant principal of Kennedy High School, will take on a new role with the district as principal of Merrick Avenue School.

Pratt is a graduate of Colgate University where he earned a Mathematics Bachelor of Arts Degree (magna cum laude). He completed his Masters in Science Education as well as his Doctor of Education degrees from Syracuse University.

He has taught Earth Science and math in Syracuse and became an assistant principal in 2001 of Paul V. Moore High School in Central Square District.

He then moved on to Hewlett-Woodmere as district director of mathematics. After four years he became K to 12 coordinator of mathematics in Lynbrook Schools.

Pratt has also been active in regional leadership. He has been an active participant in the Long Island Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and he was on the executive board of the Nassau County Association of Math Supervisors.

Pratt will start in his new position on July 1.
