In a brief meeting of the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District Board of Education, filled openings as well as current openings in the district were top of mind.
According to Dr. Mara Bollettieri, assistant superintendent of personnel, there were several openings that needed to be filled for the upcoming school year, including eight administrative openings, six probationary openings, nine part time openings, an opening for an assistant principal at Kennedy High School and a director of special education.
Bollettieri explained that while most of these positions have been filled, there are still several openings that the board is working hard to hire for before the new school year.
In addition, Dr. Nancy Kaplan of the Merrick School District and Nina Lanci of the North Bellmore School District made their debut on the board. Lanci previously served on the board before losing her seat in the 2011-12 election. She was re-elected to the board for the 2012-13 school year. Marion Blaine will also serve as president for the 2012-13 school year.
