Mepham Celebrates 75 Years with Pirate Pride

The weeklong celebration concluded in grand style on Saturday.

Mepham pride was in full force during the past week, as students, staff and community members celebrated the school's 75th anniversary.

There were different theme days throughout the week, and the celebration led up to the parade, vendor fair, carnival and football game, all of which took place on Saturday at Mepham High School. The Mepham Sports Boosters were a driving force to put the events together.

"It's a group of women and men that work together all year to plan different events," Lynn Hackett, the co-president of the Sports Boosters, said. "This is the 75th anniversary, so it's an even bigger event then ever."

"There's a lot of school spirit," she added. "It is a lot of work, but we've got it down to a well oiled machine."

Mike Muscara was the grand marshall for the parade, and students from all classes represented their grades with floats. Alumni also had a strong presence, and the fire departments made their presence felt as well, as they blared their sirens as they plowed down Camp Avenue.
