Outgoing Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Honored

State Sen. Charles Fuschillo and Assemblyman Dave McDonough honored Joni Caputo, who recently stepped down from her longtime position as executive director of the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores.

State Sen. Charles J. Fuschillo Jr., R-Merrick, and Assemblyman Dave McDonough, R-North Merrick, recently honored Bellmore resident Joni Caputo
for her many years of service to the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores. Caputo recently retired as the chamber’s longtime executive director.

Fuschillo and McDonough presented Caputo with a copy of a legislative resolution they sponsored in honor of her many years of service to the Chamber and the Bellmore community. With passage of the legislative resolution by the State Senate, Caputo’s name and record of service will forever be part of the New York State Senate’s official record.

“Joni Caputo is a very hardworking woman who has served the Bellmore community for many years," Fuschillo said. "As Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, she worked hand-in-hand with businesses, residents, and community organizations to help make Bellmore a better place to live and work."

Fuschillo added: "Joni also coordinated the Chamber’s highly successful Bellmore Street Fair, which attracts over 100,000 people to the heart of downtown Bellmore each year. She will be greatly missed, and I wish her all the best as she begins this newest chapter of her life."

Honoring Joni Caputo upon the occasion of her retirement from the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores after many years of distinguished service;

  • Whereas, individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
  • Whereas, Joni Caputo has given not only of her time and energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has been designated for special honor; and
  • Whereas, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Joni  Caputo upon the occasion of her retirement from the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores after many years of distinguished service, to be celebrated on Jan. 29, 2011; and
  • Whereas, a true asset, Joni Caputo is  retiring  from  the  esteemed position of Executive Director/Festival Coordinator; and
  • Whereas, Joni Caputo has been called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given of herself unstintingly; and
  • Whereas, throughout the entire period of her community service, a period of constructive involvement, Joni Caputo has stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
  • Whereas, rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individual for the benefit of others which Joni Caputo has displayed throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
  • Resolved, that this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Joni Caputo upon the occasion of her retirement from the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores after many years of distinguished service.
