No Progress With Vacant Property on Jerusalem Avenue

The property at the corner of Jerusalem Avenue and Pea Pond Road is still under lease, according to Norse Realty.

There is still no word on the development of the vacant land, formerly a Rite Aid, at the southwest corner of Jerusalem Avenue and Pea Pond Road.

According to a Mike Caputo, a spokesman with Town of Hempstead communications and public affairs, a permit has been issued for interior alterations to the property.

"The owner has not put up a sign yet because that work has not begun yet," Caputo said. "The owner informed us that any workers that were seen at the property were cleaning, not starting construction."

Caputo went on to say that a town inspector was sent to the property Tuesday afternoon and confirmed that construction has not yet begun. The inspector will be monitoring the property.

The owners of the property, Norse Realty, based out of New Hyde Park, said the property is still under lease and had no other comment as this time.
