Kraus, Angrisani Elected as Fire Commissioners

The results are in for the North Bellmore, Bellmore and North Merrick Fire Commissioner Elections.

In North Bellmore, ex-chief Edward J. Kraus was victorious, as he defeated Robert Bazarewski by a 294-185 margin.  Kraus has been a member of the department since 2000, and he served as chief from 2008 until April, 2012. He's also the second deputy chief instructor at the Nassau County Fire Academy.

It was a close race in Bellmore, as Robert Angrisani defeated Richard Holzhauer 232 to 196, a difference of just 36 votes. Angrisani, a former state inspector, has served on the board for the past decade and has been a part of the Bellmore Fire Department for the past 20 years.

In North Merrick, Paul Wilders won his uncontested election, and 69 votes were cast on Tuesday. Wilders is a former chief for the North Merrick Fire Department as well.
