Make a Difference Awards Date Scheduled
The Town of Hempstead has announced the date and submission process for its 14th annual "Make a Difference" Award ceremony.
The town’s Make a Difference Award Committee will select 12 of the town’s most qualified candidates -- those who help others in the community -- and present them with award medals at a special ceremony that will be held at Hempstead Town Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
All resumes and documentation for candidates must be sent to 1 Washington St., Hempstead, NY, 11550, by Friday, Oct. 14.
Make sure that all entries on the resume can be documented. Include the names, addresses and phone numbers of presidents or leaders of referenced organizations. The town is also requesting a cover letter from the nominator telling us about the nominee and why they are being nominated.
Again, the candidate must be a Town of Hempstead resident, so please be sure to provide the nominee’s home address.
Town Receives Top Credit Rating
Moody's Investor Services, a leading Wall Street credit rating firm, has given Hempstead Town its highest quality bond rating (Aaa).
Moody's has forecasted a healthy and stable financial outlook for Hempstead Town. The town's 2012 budget proposal is expected to hold the line on town taxes.
Earlier this year, Hempstead Town was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award, the highest municipal budgeting honor given by the independent Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), for the seventh consecutive year.

And yes, let's also not forget what a horrible shelter she is running and how the animals are still suffering and being killed. Talk about animal cruelty, there are still no volunteers. And summer is almost over and after TOH borrowed an additional million for the air conditioning, the new shelter director said it will be installed "maybe by next summer". As if almost a $ 7 million budget per year wasn't enough that they needed another million more? Where's the money going Kate? Towards campaigning, maybe? And speaking of the new shelter director she just told an entire group of people that "EUTHANASIA IS A FACT OF LIFE AT THE TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD ANIMAL SHELTER!" So has Kate been lying claiming it was NO KILL for all these years? Or is the new shelter director trying to turn the TOH animal shelter into the bloody NY ACC, where she used to work? VOTE FOR GARY PORT FOR TOWN SUPERVISOR on NOVEMBER 8th! And tell KATE MURRAY to take that liar of a shelter director and the rest of Team Murray with her!
Kate Murray currently sends out about 25 mailings per year. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nzq67LIQ3dw for more information about Kate's mailings. Ask her to give up some of her mailings to help the residents of the Town of Hempstead that were devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Instead of cutting down trees to make paper for mailings, the Town of Hempstead should use that wood to make houses for the people that lost theirs. Please forward this message to everyone you know.
