Shed the Meds Collection

State Senator Charles Fuschillo is partnering with Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and the Nassau County Police Department to sponsor this “Shed the Meds” collection program.

Participating in the program is easy — residents can drive up, drop off any medications that have expired or are no longer needed, and drive away.

Under the supervision of the Nassau County Police Department, this program is set up to collect old or expired prescription and other medications for safe and proper disposal. This prevents pollution of our waterways, protects our environnment, and keeps these medications out of the hands of children.

Throwing out medications improperly, such as flushing them in the toilet or pouring them down the drain, can cause them to pollute local waterways. Safe disposal helps protect the environment and keeps medications out of the hands of young children or others who would use them improperly.
