An Atlantic Beach woman will spend up to four years in prison after pleading guilty to embezzling more than $250,000 from her boss over a five year period, reported the Nassau County District Attorney’s office.

Doreen Goucher, 62, of Atlantic Beach, was sentenced to 1.5-4.5 years in prison with a civil judgment of restitution of $258,731, reported the DA.

Goucher was working as a bookkeeper for an architect and forged her boss' signature on checks, reported the DA. Between June 2006 and December 2011, Goucher forged 116 checks totaling $258,731 of company funds and used the money to pay off her personal expenses.

Goucher "disguised the thefts by creating unauthorized personal credit and loan accounts" according to the DA's office, and used the money to pay off home equity loans and credit card bills, as well as funding a trip to St. Maarten and opening an account at Peter Luger Steakhouse.

Goucher was fired in December 2011 after 14 years with the office.

What about the theivery at the AB Bridge? Why is there still a toll on the bridge? Why is there no EZ Pass? Who really runs the bridge?

I remember the pedestrian toll and gate they had to prevent the Orthodox from walking over into Atlantic Beach. Such a shame since it pitted AB self hating Jews against 5 Towns Orthodox. But no EZ Pass?
