Driver Loses Control of Car After Suffering Stroke

No one injured after woman suffers stroke near Grand Avenue Middle School.

The Bellmore Fire Department received a call Monday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. for a possible stroke victim after a car had driven on the yard of Grand Avenue Middle School.

Upon arrival, the fire department found the car against the rear fence of the schoolyard and determined that there was a disoriented, elderly female inside the car who had suffered a stroke.

The car doors were locked with the engine running and the car in drive. The woman could not open the door on her own, so the fire department stabilized the vehicle, broke the rear window and entered the car. The fire department then safely removed the woman from the vehicle.
