On Tuesday at 12:18 p.m., the Bellmore Fire Department was notified for a vehicle fire in the parking lot south of the King Kullen shopping center.

Shortly after the alarm, Bellmore's Tower Ladder 606 arrived on scene to find a Chevy Tahoe fully involved in the South East corner of the lot. The crew quickly stretched a 1-3/4" hand line and hooked up to the the close by fire hydrant.

Bellmore Engine 603 arrived on the scene and helped stretch a second 1-3/4" hand line off of 606. Bellmore Fire Rescue truck 607 had crew of extra hands to help with cleanup.

The driver of the vehicle claimed to see smoke coming from under the hood while he was driving and pulled into the lot to check under the hood to see what was going on. He could not get the hood popped, noticed flames and called 911.

The fire was quickly extinguished by the Bellmore Fire Department. No other cars in the lot were damaged.
