Vandalism Reported at St. Barnabas Church

Two concrete benches were turned over and landscaping was damaged.

Vandalism occurred on the grounds surrounding St. Barnabas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church late Saturday night.

According to the Rev. Valentine Rebello of St. Barnabas, two concrete benches were knocked down in front a statue on church grounds.

Also, Rebello said that two azalea trees near the rectory parking area were ripped out and thrown to the ground.

"It was annoying," Rebello said. "Why do people do such things?"

The incident is believed to have occurred late Saturday night, Rebello said.

The vandalism was reported to Nassau County Police early Sunday morning and they are currently investigating the matter.

Come on now, if your issue is with God, Deal with it. It your issue is with the church ask God to help you deal with it. If you were just being stupid, ask God to forgive you, he will. Dont damage property that others take pride and peace in. Such a pity but, a stone bench can be repaired, trees can be replaced. Please get help to deal with your anger. You poor soul.

I know St. Barnabas Parachoial School. I graduated 1963. Vandalism is a crime..end of story. Issues with God, bias crime against Catholics get a grip. When people speculate without full knowledge of all the facts...you're gonna get bit on the ass. It was two bushes and two benches. Not "taggin" a church or stealing fro the poor box. It's not stupid, it's not even sad people making "poor choices". It's kids. Who else on God's green earth would waste time pulling up plants , gimme a break.
