In Tuesday's Bellmore Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Joseph Famularo said that he was proud of how students reacted to the lockdowns at Bellmore schools due to Monday's home invasion robbery.
"With what happened Monday morning, I am happy with how the schools dealt with the home invasion," he said.
Bellmore, Merrick and Wantagh Schools were on lockdown, while Seaford and Levittown schools where on lock-out, which means all exterior doors were locked and blinds were closed.
Famularo said that practice, does in fact make perfect. "We have had so many rehearsals and drills in the past and we put it into action," he said. "The kids reacted beautifully, we kept in communication with the parents, we acted as a team."
The next board of education meeting will be on Tuesday Oct. 18 at the Winthrop School at 580 Winthrop Ave. at 8 p.m.
