Stranger Incident at Calhoun High School

Female student was harassed by a mid-20's, African American male Wednesday.

A female student from Calhoun High School reported being harassed on her way home from school Wednesday evening.

According to an email from Calhoun principal David Seinfeld, the student was walking home from her sports practice at approximately 6:30 p.m. when she was was approached by a mid-20's African-American male on Gianelli Street. The email said that the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The student said that the man asked if she "wanted company." According to Seinfeld's email, the student kept walking and after a few houses the male stranger stopped following her, but became agitated and began cursing at her.

The incident was reported to the police and Seinfeld said the school will make an announcement later this afternoon to alert the students.

"We advise the students to travel in pairs or groups, and would recommend that you speak with your children about safe travel to and from school," Seinfeld said. "If you know of any similar occurrences, please let us know so that we can inform the police."
