A Hicksville man was arrested in Seaford late Sunday after causing an accident and fleeing police in Bellmore, police said.
According to police, the defendant, Alexander Doroshenko, 52, of Hicksville, was observed driving a 2010 Toyota Camry southbound on Newbridge Road in Bellmore at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21. Nassau County Bureau of Special Operations officers attempted to stop the defendant as he drove in an erratic manner.
The defendant struck a 2007 Nissan at Linden Street in Bellmore and continued south without stopping, police said. The driver of the Nissan suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene. The defendant’s vehicle was located a short time later in the rear of 3914 Merrick Road in Seaford.
The defendant was placed under arrest around 9:35 p.m. and has been charged with three counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree, third-degree assault, unlawful fleeing of a police officer in the third degree, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, driving while intoxicated, and multiple traffic violations.
He will be arraigned on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 at First District Court in Hempstead.
