Police: Bellmore Man Drove with .27 Percent BAC

State police arrested a Bellmore man Saturday night for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

A Bellmore man was arrested Saturday night for driving while intoxicated (DWI) after allegedly swerving and driving erratically on the Southern State Parkway.

According to state police, around 10:33 p.m., a trooper was dispatched to a report of an erratic white pickup truck traveling westbound on the Southern State Parkway near exit 33.

The trooper located the vehicle, a white Ford F-150, and observed the vehicle swerving into the left and right lanes numerous times before initiating a traffic stop west of exit 32, police said.

While interviewing the vehicle operator, Douglas Cress, 62, of Bellmore, the trooper detected a strong odor of alcohol. Cress failed sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DWI, police said.

According to police, Cress produced a positive breath sample of .27 percent blood alcohol content (BAC). He was charged with DWI and traffic violations.  All charges are returnable in Nassau County First District Court on March 27.
