A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by an SUV in front of St. Barnabas Church on Bedford Avenue.
According to detectives, a 70-year-old male was driving a 2005 Jeep Wrangler southbound on Bedford Avenue when he struck an 81-year-old male pedestrian crossing the street.
The pedestrian suffered severe head trauma and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Detectives stated there was no apparent criminality in connection with this accident and the vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection.
Bedford Avenue was briefly shut down after the accident.
