A pedestrian was struck and killed at the intersection of Merrick Road and Jackson Avenue in Seaford early Tuesday evening.

According to detectives, around 5:40 p.m., 65-year-old Seaford resident Bryan Flack was attempting to cross Merrick Road on foot northbound at the intersection of Jackson Avenue when he was struck by a 2008 Nissan Frontier.

The driver of the Frontier, a 65-year-old male from Massapequa, was heading southbound on Jackson Avenue when he made a left turn to head eastbound on Merrick Road and struck Flack, police said.

Flack was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 10:05 p.m., police said.

The driver's vehicle was impounded for brake and safety checks, but police said that there was no criminality involved in the accident.
