Motorcyclist Could be Discharged from NUMC

The man had to be airlifted to the hospital after a Sunrise Highway crash on Tuesday.

The motorcycle driver that was airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) after a crash on Sunrise Highway Tuesday could be released from the hospital Wednesday or Thursday, according to a hospital spokeswoman

After being listed in serious condition on Tuesday afternoon, the man, who has not been identified, was upgraded to satisfactory condition by doctors.

"He still remains in NUMC's Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but he could be discharged from the hospital if he clears all tests," Shelley Lotenberg, NUMC's director of public affairs, told Patch.

Westbound Sunrise Highway was closed briefly Tuesday morning between Bellmore Avenue and Centre Avenue while the helicopter transported the man to NUMC. The cause of the crash is unknown.
