A 33-year-old man was struck with a handgun multiple times during an attempted robbery in North Bellmore on Wednesday, police said.
According to police, the victim refused medical treatment on the scene.
The victim returned to his residence on Leonard Street around 1 p.m. when he was approached by an unknown black man who displayed a handgun. The suspect demanded the victim's belongings and when the victim did not comply, the suspect struck him with the handgun on his head and arms multiple times, police said.
The suspect then went into a silver or gold Jeep Cherokee and fled the scene towards Stewart Avenue. He was described as light-skinned, wearing all black clothing and a black ski mask, according to authorities.
