Update: Arrest Made in Connection to Bellmore LIRR Death

A Roosevelt man was arrested for his alleged role in an assault at the Bellmore Long Island Rail Road Station that led to the death of a Freeport man on Saturday.

A 34-year-old man was arrested for his role in an assault at the Bellmore Long Island Rail Road Station that led to the death of a 49-year-old Freeport man, LIRR officials said. 

The suspect, Niheim Levy of Roosevelt, is being charged with felony murder and first-degree robbery for his role in the incident. 

The initial call to police at 4:50 a.m. on Saturday reported that a man had fallen from the station platform onto the tracks after he had a seizure.

Investigators said a verbal dispute turned into a physical altercation at the station.

A man died after he had a seizure on the Bellmore Long Island Rail Road Station platform and fell onto the train tracks on Saturday.

The man's name and age has not been released.

According to Aaron Donovan, spokesperson for the Long Island Rail Road, the man suffered a seizure and fell onto the tracks around 4:52 a.m.

Service was suspended on the Babylon branch between Wantagh and Freeport at 5:30 a.m., but was fully restored around 1 p.m.

Donovan said the incident is still being investigated.
