Man Arrested After Accidentally Shooting Boy With Air Pistol in North Bellmore

Jonathan Ryan allegedly shot a 15-year-old boy, who is in stable condition at a neighborhood hospital.

An East Meadow man was arrested Sunday after allegedly shooting a 15-year-old boy with an air pistol last week in North Bellmore, police said.

According to police, on June 30, Jonathan Ryan, 22, unintentionally fired the air pistol, which caused a serious injury to the 15-year-old's eye.

The victim, who was not identified by police, is being treated at a neighborhood hospital and is listed in "stable condition," according to officials.

Ryan has been charged with second degree assault, tampering with physical evidence, second degree reckless endangerment and making a punishable false written statement. His arraignment is scheduled for July 4 at first district court in Hempstead.
