John Curley Elected Fire Commissioner

John Curley, a former fire chief, has been with the Bellmore Fire Department for 28 years.

John Curley, who has been with the Bellmore Fire Department for 28 years, was named Bellmore Fire Commissioner in Tuesday's election.

According to Vincent Scaduto, public information officer of the Bellmore Fire Department, Curley won the election with 338 votes. Craig Maltz followed with 243 votes and Allison DeQuatro came in third with 88 votes.

The "lifelong resident of Bellmore" served as a police officer with the New York City Police Department for four years and has spent the past 17 years as a career firefighter with the New York City Fire Department.

Curley will start his five-year term as commissioner in January, Scaduto said.
