FD Extinguishes Bellmore Shed Fire

At 1:30 pm Saturday, the Bellmore Fire Department responded to a report of a shed fire on Lee Place in Bellmore. 

The homeowner and several neighbors attempted to extinguish a fire on the outside of the home. First Assistant Chief Steve Marsar encountered an electrical fire that had spread to the interior of the home, filling it with thick smoke.

Fire Fighters from Bellmore Engine 604 (acting 603) worked to extinguish the exterior fire. Crews from Bellmore Ladder 606 and Engine 601 worked opening interior walls to prevent any further extension of the fire into the home. Bellmore Ambulances 6012 and 6013 set up a first aid post at the scene.

North Bellmore Ladder 657 responded to the scene.  Units from the Merrick, North Merrick and Wantagh Fire Departments stood by at Bellmore Fire Department Headquarters. 

There were no fire department injuries reported.
