A dog was rescued in a house fire on Tyrus Court in North Merrick on Sunday morning.

There were no injuries.

The fire started around 7:30 a.m. Though the residents of the home escaped, the family dog was trapped in the house.

When North Bellmore firefighters arrived on the scene they forced their way into the house and were able to take the animal out. The fire was knocked down in less than an hour.

Fire departments from Bellmore, Uniondale and East Meadow were on the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The fire occurred several houses from the North Merrick/East Meadow border. This is an area served by the North Bellmore Fire Department due to district boundaries and proximity to fire stations.
