The owners of the house were not at home at the time of the fire and no one was injured during the incident, according to Scaduto. The house itself, however, suffered slight damage.

"There was some damage to the deck and the sliding door," he said. "However, there's not too much damage inside the house."

Scaduto explained how the firefighters combated the blaze before it spread even further.

"We came around outside, and put the fire out there," he said. "Another line went into the front of the house, and we extinguished the fire in the kitchen."

According to Scaduto, the Bellmore Fire Marshals are investigating the exact cause of the fire, but as of now, how it started is unknown.
