Crimes Nearby: Vehicle Break-ins Continue, Man Punched in Face

Crimes reported in Wantagh, Seaford, Massapequa and Farmingdale.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.

Wantagh

  • On Sept. 28, between 12:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) stole cash, a wallet and a laptop from complainant’s unlocked vehicle that was parked at Lighthouse Diner.
  • On Oct. 7, at 10:13 p.m., Hussein Mahmoud, 30, of Wantagh, was arrested on Duck Pond Drive North and charged with DWI, unlawful possession of marijuana and two violations of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • On Oct. 7, at 10:30 p.m., Anthony Mallilo, 63, of Greenlawn, was arrested at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Wantagh Avenue and charged with DWI and a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.

Seaford

  • Sometime between Sept. 28 at 3 p.m. and Sept. 29 at 5 a.m., the registration plate was stolen off of a motorcycle on Tiana Street in Seaford.
  • On Sept. 30, at 11:31 p.m., video surveillance shows an unknown male enter the rear yard at JED Electric and remove a generator switch. He was also seen trying all the doors of the vehicles parked there.
  • Near midnight on Oct. 3, a Uniondale man was arrested for shoplifting at Pathmark and charged with petit larceny and theft of services.
  • On Oct. 4, at 1:55 a.m., Gregory Sokol, 23, of Katonah, was arrested at the intersection of Seamans Neck Road and Sunrise Highway and charged with DWI.

Massapequa

  • Sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 30, the complainant returned to his vehicle, which was parked at Bayview Florist and discovered the center console opened and coins missing. His vehicle was left unlocked.
  • At 4:25 a.m. on Oct. 2, unknown suspect(s) stole a catalytic converter from a 2009 Chevy van and a 2009 Ford at Motl Service Corp.
  • Sometime between Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 2 at 11 a.m., unknown suspect(s) entered the complainant’s vehicle on Ensign Drive and removed the photography accessories and a camera from the camera case.
  • On Oct. 2, between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) stole a watch from the center console of the complainant’s unlocked vehicle which was parked at Sunrise Mall.
  • On Sept. 28, at 1 p.m., unknown suspect(s) removed the complainant’s iPad while he was at listed location watching his friend play basketball at Burns Park.
  • On Oct. 1, at 11 a.m., a Freeport woman was arrested for shoplifting at Macy’s and charged with petit larceny.
  • On Oct. 1, at 2:40 p.m., an Amityville resident was arrested for shoplifting at JC Penney and charged with petit larceny.
  • On Oct. 2, between 2:40 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., unknown suspect(s) stole the complainant's laptop from Barnwood Furniture.
  • Sometime between Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. and Oct. 1 at 3:30 p.m., the complainant discovered their bike stolen from the rear shed on Chicago Avenue.
  • On Oct. 3, at 1 p.m., a Lake Grove man was arrested at JC Penney and charged with petit larceny.
  • On Oct. 3, at 3:50 p.m., two Copiague women were arrested for shoplifting at Macy’s and charged with petit larceny.
  • On Oct. 7, at 3 p.m., a West Babylon resident was arrested for shoplifting at Walmart and charged with petit larceny.
  • On Sept. 30, between 7-9 p.m., the complainant discovered her Halloween decorations damaged then placed in a garbage can on Toronto Avenue.
  • On Oct. 6, at 1:25 a.m., Robert Daniels, 28, of West Babylon, was arrested at the intersection of Carol Drive and Sunrise Highway and charged with DWI and four violations of the vehicle and traffic law.

Farmingdale

  • A Farmingdale man was arrested Sunday morning after he allegedly punched a man in the face outside the Library Cafe and then resisted arrest, cops said. Click here for more.
  • Sometime between 11 p.m. on Oct. 2 and 6 a.m. on Oct. 3, assorted beer was stolen from Dairy Barn in South Farmingdale.
  • On Oct. 5, a home on Nelson Street in Farmingdale was burglarized, as a flat screen TV, laptop, and jewelry were stolen.
  • Sometime between 5 p.m. on Sept. 30 and 9 a.m. on Oct. 2, copper piping was stolen from a building on Fulton Street.
  • Sometime between 11 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 5 a.m. on Oct. 2, an iPod was stolen from an automobile parked on 3rd Avenue.
  • Sometime between 9 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 7 a.m. on Oct. 2, a Garmin GPS was stolen from an automobile parked on Walnut Avenue.
