Crimes Nearby Part II: DWI Arrests, Orthopedist Convicted For LIRR Fraud Scheme

Seaford

  • Monica Hartman, 23, of Seaford, was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, after police said she was involved in an accident on Montauk Highway in East Quogue on Aug. 4 at about 8 p.m. Click here for more.

  • Sometime between July 29 and August 1, license plates were stolen from a car on Center and Grove Lane.

  • On August 1 at 11:15 p.m., a subject threw an unknown object at a vehicle on Hempstead Turnpike and Gardiners Avenue.

  • Sometime between July 30 at 4:30 p.m. and July 31 at 8 a.m., stilts, nail guns, a screw gun, and plumbing box with tools was stolen on N. Newbridge Road.

  • On August 5,  Officer Touhy of the Garden City Police Department arrested a 46-year-old male from Levittown for the theft of nine cans of baby formula from CVS.

  • Sometime between August 6 at 1 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.,  a Samsung TV, a Macbook and an IPad were stolen on N. Newbridge Road.

  • Sometime between August 5 at 6 p.m. and 7:20 p.m., a credit card and cash was stolen from a car on Campus Lane and Chimney Lane.

  • East Meadow

    • An East Meadow-based orthopedist was one of three people convicted Tuesday in Manhattan federal court for his participation in a massive fraud scheme in which Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) employees claimed to be disabled upon early retirement so that they could receive federal disability benefits to which they were not entitled.     • Sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on July 30, items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in East Meadow. Police did not release the details on where the incident occurred.

    • Before 7 a.m. on Aug. 4, a vehicle’s side window mirror was damaged while parked on Gates Avenue.
