Crimes Nearby: DWI, Grand Larceny, Kidnap Scam

Bellmore

  • Sometime between Feb. 5-11, an unknown suspect cut a hole in a chain-linked fence at Wantagh Mazda, located at 853 Sunrise Highway in Bellmore, and stole tires and rims from four vehicles.
  • Sometime between 9:30 p.m. and 11:20 p.m. on Feb. 17, a car was broken into while parked in the Applebee's parking lot. Cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash were stolen.
  • At 12:21 a.m. on Feb. 12,  Michael Coveny, 46, of Bellmore, was arrested at the intersection of Newbridge Road and Sunrise Highway and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.
Freeport
  • Nassau Police Department seek help in identifying the subject in connection with a Grand Larceny which in Freeport on Dec. 8. At approximately 4:45 p.m., the above pictured unknown subject was observed inside BJ’s Warehouse located in Freeport. The above male white subject stole electronics valued at $1,969 and fled scene in a red colored Cadillac.
  • On Feb. 15 at 1:41 p.m., Taisha Francis, 21, of Freeport, was arrested in Massapequa and charged with petit larceny.
Merrick
  • At 7:38 a.m. on Feb. 17, a resident that lives on Julian Lane in Merrick received a call from someone claiming that their brother had been kidnapped. They also tried to intimidate the victim into giving money.
Roosevelt
  • The First Squad reports the arrest of two Roosevelt men for a Burglary which occurred on Feb. 20, at 10:12 a.m. in Roosevelt. According to detectives, First Precinct Officers responded for a report of a burglary in progress. Officers observed Todd Hartshorne-raysor, 27, inside the house holding property. They asked him to exit the house at which time he ran. The Officers ran to the front of the home where they intercepted the defendant as he ran out the door and arrested him.  A second man, Marc G. Dangerfield, 39, was also apprehended. Both men were found to be in possession of a flashlight and screwdriver.
