Crime Report: Violent Robbery Arrest, Fight and Break-In

Recent police activity in Bellmore as reported by the 1st and 7th Precincts.

  • A resident on Linden Street reported three damaged clay pots and two stolen handicap signs on June 26.
  • On June 29 around 5 a.m., a man was beaten and robbed at Merrick Mall. George Dejesus, 53, of Bellmore, was arrested and charged with felony robbery and weapon possession charges. Dejesus is currently free on $15,000 bail.
  • Graffiti was found on a wall in an alleyway on Bedford Avenue and reported on July 2.
  • On July 3, a home on Hughes Street was broken into. Entry was gained through the upstairs bathrom window and a large screen television was reported stolen.
  • A Criminal Mischief 3rd was reported on Legion Street after a complainant reported all four tires on his Ford van slashed.
  • On July 3, Ittai Azoulay, 26, of Merrick, was arrested at Legion Street and
    Florin Court in Bellmore and charged with four violations of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.
  • A fight broke out between three unknown males in Dunkin Donuts on Newbridge Road on July 5.

I never had any kids.. and am the last kid who went to to the Bellmore Merrick school system.....itsRead More been almost 40 years since I was a Mempham grad..and it is very disharting to hear that my many many high tax dollars..are not enought for these kids I have been sororting all these years!!! Who is getting all the money??? Its all bull.. aI live inbetween teachers.. how is it they can afford high end cars, housekeepers, landscapers, ect??????... the money is being spent in the WRONG WAYS TO THE TEACHERS, AND MOST OF ALL THE ADMISTRATION, THE SCHOOL BOARD ECT... I AM CALLING FOR A MASSIVE AUDIT AND GET0 per year.. they afe not worth any more then that.. THE MONEY BACK FROM ANYONE WHO WAS PAID MORE THEN $75,00....

A bit of a surprise considering kids come home with a supply list a mile long (and average $40-$75).
