Crime Report: Phone Scams, iPhone Stolen

Nassau County Police are warning locals about two phone scams that are making waves throughout the confines of the Seventh Precinct. Click here for the details on this developing story.

  • On Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m., an unknown male stole an iPhone 5 from Verizon, located on Jerusalem Avenue in North Bellmore.
  • Sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 7, an employee at Newbridge Road Park had her pocketbook stolen from the back room while she was working.
  • At 12:44 a.m. on Dec. 9,  an unknown male caller contacted someone at Urgent Medical Care at 2459 Merrick Rd. and stated that a family member was kidnapped, held hostage or involved in an auto accident and the victim needs to send money usually through Western Union to save or help the family member. The caller threatened serious harm, police said.
  • On Dec. 8 at 7:30 a.m.,  Alexis Conforti, 21, of North Bellmore, was arrested at Merrick Road Professional Center at 1825 Merrick Rd. in Merrick and was charged with criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an accident. 
  • Sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Dec. 9, an unknown suspect took a potted plant off of a front stoop on Judith Drive and threw it into the hood of the complainant's vehicle.
