The Wantagh Fire Department responded to a small fire on Sycamore Avenue near the Wantagh-Bellmore border around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

According to the chief on scene, a small fire broke out in a crawl space while the homeowner, who was the only person home, was trying to unfreeze some pipes.

The fire was contained to that area, and nobody was seriously injured. The home sustained minimal damage as well.

Use a heat gun or a blow drier. Do not use a blow torch to thaw pipes!

Just curious why the Bellmore patch reported this Wantagh fire, but not the Bellmore Fire early Morning January 1st, and January 5th. Also, @Steven, i have heard conflicting stories as to what he was using, it may have been a torch, but i also heard from a member who was standing by at the Wantagh Fire HQ that it was a heat gun, and it caught fire to the insulation.

Chris, we weren't made aware of the other fires. If you have any info/photos, please email to Michael.Ganci@patch.com
