Police are investigating a car fire that started at approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday on Ansbro Place in Bellmore.
The car owner, who lives at 308 Ansbro Place, was in his backyard when the fire started. The car was parked in his driveway alongside the property.
A woman who lives across the street noticed the smoke and fire, called emergency personnel and they extinguished the flames.
The car fire caused the siding of the house next door to melt, but nobody was injured during the incident.
"I was working in the backyard," the man said. "I am just happy nobody was hurt."
