Arson Squad Investigating Shore Road Fire

The Arson Bomb Squad is investigating a fire that took place at a home on Shore Road in Bellmore at 7:35 a.m. Monday.

According to detectives, the Bellmore, North Bellmore, Merrick and Wantagh Fire Departments responded, and it took more than 100 people to extinguish the blaze.

A 93-year-old woman and a 61-year old male were transported to Nassau University Medical Center due to smoke inhalation. The woman was in critical condition as of Monday morning, and the man's condition is unknown.

Witnesses told Patch that firefighters pulled the victims out through the second floor window. Two responders suffered lacerations during the rescue, and they were treated at NUMC before being subsequently released. 

The Arson Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshal were present at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
