What Should Santa Bring to Bellmore-Merrick?

Christmas is almost here and it is time to break out that wish list! But what do you want your community to receive this holiday season.

What would you want to see change in Bellmore-Merrick? Less vacant businesses, solutions to crime, more communication with elected officials, more support after Hurricane Sandy?

Tell Patch what you would ask Santa to bring to this area on his sleigh this Christmas? Would it be a new business, a new policy, and resolution to a lingering problem? Let us know in the comments section below and we'll put a good word in with St. Nick.

More support after Hurricane Sandy. Everyone is oblivious that South Merrick is destroyed. Yes, the houses are still standing, but they are gutted inside and the contents have all been discarded. What is Merrick doing? Nothing. Freeport, Seaford, Island Park, Bellmore, Long Beach all have civic communities and volunteer groups helping. I haven't heard of one event helping in Merrick. It's such a shame. I don't even have a Christmas tree this year.
