Patch hit the streets in Bellmore and found that taxes, health care and vandalism are among the issues on voter's minds as Election Day nears.
"School taxes are too high and I am starving. I read that there are 2,000 less kids in school and taxes keep going up. Where is that money going?"- John, 60 year resident of Bellmore.
"What is going to be done about property taxes and health care? Those two things are ruining the economy and people are working just to pay those two things." - Steve Eplan, 46-year-old business owner.
"What concerns me is the garbage and vandalism in Bellmore. Youths have a lack of respect for residents and businesses." - Carol, 45-year-old Bellmore resident.
"There is a problem with vandalism and parking in the business districts that needs to be fixed."- Jim, 50-year-old florist.
"We need bigger businesses in downtown Bellmore. We have to waste gas and drive other places to get things we need. I love little businesses, but we don't have big stores like Walmart in this town." - Jane Gallo, library clerk.
