Islanders Hosting Online Auction to Benefit Sandy Victims

The New York Islanders announced that they are holding an online auction with one-of-a-kind experiences and items to raise funds for area residents affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Local teams, organizations and individuals all donated to the fundraising efforts. Donors include the Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, New York Mets, New York Yankees, New York Giants, New York Jets, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, New York Islanders, New York Islanders Owner Charles B. Wang, New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers, Barclays Center, Nassau Coliseum, SMG and Madison Square Garden.

Each has generously donated items to help in raising money for the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief fund. Fans can access the auction on the Islanders website and bidding opened on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at noon and close at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

“It really is impressive to see so many local teams donate items to help raise money for the hurricane relief efforts,” Islanders General Manager and President of the Islanders Children’s Foundation Garth Snow said. “The rivalries that so many of the donating teams have, go on the back-burner in situations like this because it’s not only Islanders fans that were affected, it’s all New Yorkers.”

There are numerous packages that allow fans to bid on special experiences with their favorite entertainer or team. Carrie Underwood, Country Music’s Favorite Female Artist, will offer an exclusive meet and greet to the fans that purchase any one of the three suite ticket packages provided by SMG for her show on November 30 at Nassau Coliseum. Bid on the chance to attend the New York Mets VIP experience, which gets you on the field during batting practice.

The Islanders are offering several game-night experiences, including the chance to serve as the Equipment Manager’s assistant, exclusive seats to watch the game with General Manager Garth Snow, VIP access to high-five the Islanders as they take the ice and the media experience to sit behind MSG broadcasters Howie Rose and Butch Goring during a future Islanders game.

If you’re looking to attend upcoming concerts, sporting events or family shows, fans can bid on tickets to the Brooklyn Nets, college basketball, Disney on Ice or the WWE. The WWE show, TLC, on December 16 at Barclays Center, is one of their 12 pay-per-view events. Disney on Ice will have six shows at Barclays Center where fans can bid on suite tickets to take in the exciting family entertainment.

There is also memorabilia, including a signed lineup card from Super Bowl XLVI by Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning, a jersey signed by New York Islanders center John Tavares and a limited edition Brooklyn Nets JAY Z jersey.

Natalie. I am so sorry to read this. I too have a little 5 yr. old dog who I love desperately...Read More and I feel your pain. There is another website for an organization that does an amazing job finding lost pets. It's LOSTMYDOGGIE.COM There is a small fee, but they get signs up all over the area and have a phone system set up where everyone in the area of where she was lost gets a PHONE CALL ALERT message to watch for Molly. They leave a phone number and their website address so if anyone has seen her or has her they know where to call. Great system! Check it out! I've never used them, but I HAVE received calls myself recently on 2 separate lost dogs and I've seen the many photos they hung up in my area in Levittown for dogs lost within a few miles of this area. In other words, they DO what they say they will do to help find Molly. Just want you to know what is out there to help you bring Molly home. My grandkids go to school around Grand and Camp Ave. We'll be watching for her! God Bless and good luck! I'm sure she will be returned to you real soon!!
