Cuomo: Storm Brings 'New Reality'

Editor’s Note: This story was written and submitted by David Reich-Hale.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday called Hurricane Sandy "truly frightening."

He then went on to say New York residents should brace themselves for more of the same.
In an interview with Albany radio station Talk 1300-AM, Cuomo said "We have a 100-year flood every two years now."

Cuomo added, "There has been a series of extreme weather incidents. That is not a political statement, that is a factual statement. Anyone who says there's not a dramatic change in weather patterns, I think is denying reality."

The governor also said the flooding on the south shore of Nassau and Suffolk counties was as bad as anything he had seen in New York.

Recovery costs along the eastern seaboard are expected to be record setting - perhaps as much as $20 billion - and Cuomo said he spoke to President Obama twice to request federal assistance. In a press conference this afternoon, the president said federal funds will be made available to New York, New Jersey and other impacted areas.

Hurricane Sandy's trail of destruction on Long Island was sweeping. A man in Lloyd Harbor was killed when a tree fell on him. Meanwhile, floods consumed waterfront communities throughout Long Island.

Thank you, governor. We need to overwhelm the lunatic fringe and puppets of oil and coal companies with the truth. Denying climate change after storms like this is like denying the earth is round.

Thank you, Gov. Cuomo...this IS our "new" reality...weather conditions will only continue to defy our definition of the "norm"...we need to acknowledge this trend and rise to meet it so we aren't left befuddled and in the dark as to how we need proceed. I don't believe fear is the necessary component.( sorry Fox 5 news)...
I do believe valid, authentic information is.

Cuomo will always be a jerk and a true liberal trying to sell global warming
now known as climate change. Sorry but it is a hoax and a money maker for many (just ask Al Gore).

All of you people who have commented, and those that will comment, should read the Holy Bible and note these days that have come to past. For those who will ask "where" or say "show me", I leave it to you to search. If I tell you where to look, you will go directly there and learn nothing, but if you are in search of answers, you'll find more than you are looking for, while searching multiple books of the Holy Bible.

JJJ, thankfully you are among the last of an ever-shrinking club of science-denying ignoramuses who would see the planet destroyed to satisfy your right wing thirst. A "hoax"? Wake up.

Natalie. I am so sorry to read this. I too have a little 5 yr. old dog who I love desperately...Read More and I feel your pain. There is another website for an organization that does an amazing job finding lost pets. It's LOSTMYDOGGIE.COM There is a small fee, but they get signs up all over the area and have a phone system set up where everyone in the area of where she was lost gets a PHONE CALL ALERT message to watch for Molly. They leave a phone number and their website address so if anyone has seen her or has her they know where to call. Great system! Check it out! I've never used them, but I HAVE received calls myself recently on 2 separate lost dogs and I've seen the many photos they hung up in my area in Levittown for dogs lost within a few miles of this area. In other words, they DO what they say they will do to help find Molly. Just want you to know what is out there to help you bring Molly home. My grandkids go to school around Grand and Camp Ave. We'll be watching for her! God Bless and good luck! I'm sure she will be returned to you real soon!!
