"YOU'RE sooo tired"...I'm sorry, but whose narcissistic???...Sounds like that kind of thinking has some major insecurity issues...Just where did your 'education' take place - San Francisco???...That's where that kind of drivel emanates...The terms 'Christmas' tree has been around for centuries...Did you really take time out of your life to research the term Christmas tree???...What was the purpose of your investigation???...To prove to yourself that tradition that's incongruent with your own should be stiffled???...And what's so wrong for a religion and it's flock to embrace a symbol of celebration???...Why denigrade it???...Leave it alone...Let happy people be happy...And why do so many unhappy people have to bring down others to quell their own insecurities anyway???...All the 'different people' - as you say - in Bellmore are entitled to their own symbols and traditions...But people aren't 'different' ...Only 'thought' is different...Jealousy of majority thought is no way to go thru life...Create your own bush, tree, man-in-a-red-suit - whatever...And after you do, petition the Chamber of Commerce for it's inclusion in the spirit of the holidays...Maybe, just maybe, your symbol will stand the test of time and will eventually be thought of as a TRADITION too...I will have NO ill will toward you OR your symbol...Frankly, I couldn't care less...I don't begrudge anyone's traditions...And I'm sure the 'majority' will feel the same as I do...And I think that's the genesis of what makes you 'so tired', isn't it???...Some people just want to be relevant...But being jealous & anti-establisment just exposes a desperate need to be included and a need to overcome a depressed existence..."In God We Trust"....Does that bother you too???...God Bless Everyone - white, black, red, purple, Jew, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, etc...But may HE especially bless those with such troubled souls as those who feel the need to investigate the origin of the CHRISTMAS tree!!!....
By the way, Eileen M. seems to be the voice of reason. M. Murphy appears to get agitated easily. Maybe he/she will calm down if we all ignore.
Again, I'm sorry for offending you in any way. I'm not going to say it wasn't my intention because it probably was originally. But I was wrong. And I didn't mean to drag you into this Eileen. Merry Christmas M.
But would you call the Menorah Candles just "Candles". I bet you not. Every place I have ever gone to (including the city: "Rockerfeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting"). It was not call a tree. Or at other ceromonies" "Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting". Other than that it really don't bother me. Because I take it from where it comes from. Selfish and disrespectful people.
