Menorah Lighting Takes Place Tuesday

Editor’s Note: The following was written and submitted by the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores.

The community is cordially invited to celebrate the Festival of Lights as the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores hosts the 16th annual menorah lighting.

Please join us on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. as we light the next candle on the beautiful menorah, located at the entrance to the Veterans Memorial on the corner of Broadway and Bedford Avenue in Bellmore Village.

Get news your way on Merrick Patch. See our great list of groups and click the green “+ Follow” button on the ones you like. Done!

Our religious leaders from local Synagogues will lead us in prayer as we light our beautiful 10 foot silver Menorah. This year’s celebration will include the singing of traditional Chanukah songs led by students of the Hebrew and nursery schools. There will be chocolate Chanukah Gelt and wonderful giveaways, compliments of the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores.

The Chamber invites friends and neighbors of all faiths to join in this delightful celebration. For additional information, please call our Chamber office at 516-679-1875.

How come a Christmas tree now has to be called a "holiday" tree but a menorah is not called a holiday candle stick holder??

They have to be called holiday trees? I didn't get the memo

@ Monique - be careful, I think you're allowing your anti-semitism to show though
MONIQUE COSTABLE December 11, 2012 at 08:28 AM
@swv Actually what I believe I am allowing to show thru is my right to speak up and be heardn and voice my opinion as any and all other religious people do from all walks of life but...thank you for your feedback!
