Strawberry Festival Set for Thursday

Children with special needs will be admitted into the event earlier on its opening day.

The 25th Annual Nassau County Strawberry Festival, hosted by the Bellmore Lions and Kiwanis Clubs, will start on Thursday evening and run through Sunday.

Children with special needs will have the opportunity to enjoy Thursday's festivities earlier at 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

"Children with special needs may never have had the full opportunity to participate in a carnival and enjoy all its rides," Joe Anderson, co-chairman of the Nassau County Strawberry Festival said. "For the past several years, we have made this possible at the Nassau County Strawberry Festival through Blue Sky Amusements, the operator of the amusement rides."

The event will include live entertainment, rides, fresh strawberries and a variety of strawberry concoctions.

The festival will be open to the general public: Thursday, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m, Saturday, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is $2 and children under 5-years-old will be admitted for free. Parking will be free.

The Nassau County Strawberry festival will be held at the BOCES School grounds at Newbridge Road and Jerusalem Avenue.
