Representatives from Crown Communications, which is exclusively contracted by New York State to build wireless communication towers, will discuss a proposed cell tower on state-owned property at the intersection of Bellmore Road and S. Bismark Avenue in North Bellmore, near the East Meadow border.
As , the land is under the jurisdiction of the the New York State Parks Department and is currently a wooded area near exit 26 of the Southern State Parkway. Since the land is owned by the state, it is not under the purview of the Town of Hempstead and therefore, the state can build a cell tower without the town's approval.
Crown Communications is contracted by New York State to build wireless communication towers. The company began a preliminary evaluation of the site for the purpose of building a cell tower in the fall of 2010. Jacqueline Murray of Crown Communications is the featured speaker.
