Week in Review

During our second week live, Bellmore Patch hit the ground running.

In Business news we reported on how merchants fared this holiday season and rock legend Gregg Allman making some glitzy purchases at Polara Jewelers.

In Government news we covered the swearing in of the Nassau County Legislature and Hempstead Town Board and County Executive Ed Mangano's plans to reform the property tax assessment system.

In the Opinion section we included columns from elected officials; Assemblyman David McDonough and Senator Charles Fuschillo.

For our Police & Fire coverage, Bellmore Patch was on the scene of a fire at a local pediatrician's office and where a pedestrian was struck crossing Sunrise Highway. We also compiled a Crime Report for the week.

In keeping up with School News, we reported on how the local districts were handling H1N1 Flu precautions and a Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District Board of Education meeting.

We were almost everywhere this week covering Sports, including bowling, basketball, track  and wrestling (swimming was canceled on Friday). We also featured some Bellmore runners who participated in the recent Ho Ho Ho Holiday Run.
