Jan. 25: Five Things You Need to Know Today

1. Say it ain't snow! A winter storm is expected to start late Friday afternoon with snow showers across the area before picking up as rush hour begins. Snowfall should be light, although meteorologists say there could be heavy patches of snowfall during the storm.

2. Safety first! Sanford H. Calhoun High School in Merrick is among 10 schools whose auditoriums will receive inspections and training for students, worth up to $1,000 per school from the United States Institute for Theatre Technology. Drama teacher Sal Salerno submitted the school for consideration. Read more here.

3. Om! There's a free teen yoga class at the North Bellmore Library this afternoon at 4 p.m. This class is offered by Floating Lotus Yoga.
