We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children. Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.
You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.
Look for the kids’ planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips — just add them to the comment box. Even if you disagree with our picks, let us know. We want to hear from you!
This week we have pajama and movie night, a radio club field day, kid’s night out, a fireworks display and bowling fun. Check it all out below:
Pajama Craft/Movie Night
Where/When: Party Palooza in Merrick; Friday, June 24 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Why Go: Go out for the evening and let the children stay at Party Palooza to take part in an exciting craft or interesting movie for a few hours. They will also be able to sing, dance and have a small snack, so when they get home all you will have to do is put them to bed – a win for all!

Wantagh Radio Club Field Day
Where/When: Wantagh Museum; Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Why Go: The Wantagh Radio Club will be holding a “Field Day,” which is a national disaster radio communication test. The group will be using amateur radio equipment all day learn – the perfect platform for children to learn about this interesting activity.
Creative Corner’s Kids' Night Out
Where/When: Creative Corner in Bellmore; Saturday, June 25, from 5 to 9 p.m.
Why Go: Have a night out on the town without the kids! Drop them off at the Creative Corner for an evening filled with crafts, cupcake decorating, a movie and more. The perfect way to keep them entertained and busy while parents get some time to themselves.
Pricing: $35 plus tax for each child.
Fireworks: A Salute to Veterans
Where/When: Town Park at Point Lookout; Saturday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m. (Rain date is June 26).
Why Go: This yearly Town of Hempstead tradition will wow the children with a spectacular display of fireworks. Just in time for the Fourth of July holiday, this is the perfect spot to watch all of the festivities. Bring a blanket and let the kids run around at this free event.
Sunday Specials at South Levittown Lanes
Where/When: South Levittown Lanes; Sunday, June 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: Get the kids out of the house while participating in a fantastic family-friendly game of bowling. During the day, the bowling alley rents lanes for a $10 flat rate. An economical and fun way to spend a lazy Sunday with the little ones.
