A very large branch from a tree in front of a house located at 61 Croydon Drive fell Tuesday, knocking down several power lines located above the home.
The branch and power lines fell onto the home's driveway, narrowly missing a sedan. Nassau County Police responded to calls of the incident, cordoning off the street, and Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) was asked to send workers to secure the area, police at the scene said.
No one was hurt, no property was damaged, and there was no threat of a fire due to the live power lines, police said.
The owners of the house, located near Wellington C. Mepham high school, were not home at the time of the accident.
According to the LIPA Storm Center outage map, 15 customers were affected by outages due to the incident, and crews were assigned to the area. Time of restoration is estimated at 4 p.m.
