Centerpoint Church Collecting for Hurricane Victims

Despite significant damage suffered during Hurricane Sandy, Centerpoint Church in Bellmore is still making a difference in the lives of those who attend the church each week.

According to resident Caroline Leone, services cannot be held at the church due to the damage sustained. However, the church has been turned into a "Give and Take" station.

"Anyone in the community can either give, but most importantly please have them come 'take,'" Leone said. "They have food/water, clothing, cleaning supplies, baby needs, bedding, etc."

The church is located at 2658 Corner Lane, behind the fire station on Bellmore Avenue.

Leone sad that many of the church's families live on the South Shore, including about 30 families from Long Beach, many of whom have lost everything.

"There is a collection on the church's website, www.cpchurch.com, to benefit these families directly so they can begin to rebuild their lives," she said.

The church's good ways have also been acknowledged by the surrounding community, namely the Bellmore Movie Theater.

"The church was also fortunate to have generously been given the use of the Bellmore Movie Theater on Petit Avenue this past Sunday to hold services," Leone said.
