Bellmore Patch: Our New Year's Resolutions

Here's what we at Bellmore Patch resolve for 2011.

Each New Year people resolve to live a better, healthier life. Well, most of us at Bellmore Patch are no different. Here are some things we're loving to improve heading into 2011.

  • "To create more of a work-life balance. To not take advantage of the people that mean the most to me. To count my blessings each and every day." – Jaime Sumersille (Associate Regional Editor)
  • "I resolve to get more sleep this year." – Michele Antonio (Contributor)
  • "1. Improving my diet. Most notably, I'l be trying to limit my Starbucks visits to maybe 2-3 a week instead of every single day. Those Java Chips are hard to resist. 2. Stop sitting on all these little personal video and writing side projects I have and actually do something with them. A YouTube channel might be a good idea ..." – Chris Boyle (Contributor, videographer)
  • "My New Year's Resolution is to exercise more, focus more time on my relationship and volunteer to help charities." – Melissa O'Connor (Contributor)
  • "To be honest, I don't really believe in them if you want to do something you should do it any day of the year! I will continue to try to remember that life is precious and if I have my health and happiness, stress and worry shouldn't be given any energy!"  - Laura La Vacca (Contributor)
  • "Stick to working out, travel more, make more money!" – Jacqueline Kendrick (Contributor)
  • "My resolution is to not make anymore New Year's resolutions!" – Carol Hoenig (Contributor)
  • "Find more time to spend with family and friends." – Jeff Wilson (Photographer)
  • "I've resolved to make good on a long-standing goal to volunteer for a local charity. I've already begun the process by applying to the interfaith nutrition network in Hempstead." – Alan Krawitz (Contributor)
  • "I am really not much for New Year's resolutions since I already quit smoking many years ago, and am not willing to give up treating myself to chocolate or chardonnay or what little else I do that might be thought of as a vice. So, realistically, the only resolutions I might consider this year would be to stop obsessing about the many typos I make when rushing my writing, to clean up and reorganize my home-office, and to actually read and use at least one recipe in each cookbook I own before I buy another cookbook. And, the only one really worth keeping is to try to spend more time with loved ones and less time juggling my crazy workload." – Nancy Hiler (Calendar Editor)
  • "I resolve to work hard in the new year, though not as hard should I win the lottery ... I resolve to eat when I'm hungry and sleep when I'm tired, because it's good to start small. I resolve to treat people I like well, and people I don't well also, just to see their reaction ... I resolve to laugh when I'm happy and cry when I'm sad, because why mess with a good thing ... I resolve to quit smoking, easy to do since I never started. I resolve to keep on the path to my ultimate goal, which I have not yet established ... And I resolve to discover the meaning of life, and when I do, to post it on Patch, because let's face it, it's where you turn first for high school track results and garage sale listings ... so why not this too? Happy New Year!" - Rick Karas (Contributor)
  • 'This is my year to get serious about losing weight.  My wife thinks it should be easy for me, being as I have managed to lose my keys, my wallet, my glasses, my sense of direction, my mind, etc. Happy New Year." – Andrew McClure
  • "I want to turn Bellmore Patch into the best site not just on Long Island, but across the country, while making more time for myself and my personal life. Happy New Year Bellmore!" - Matthew Hogan (Editor)
