The Bellmore Little League will host a candlelight vigil to remember and honor the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The vigil will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday night at the Bruce H. Gary Memorial Field of Heroes.
Gary was a former league board member and father of three children. He died on 9/11 while working as a New York City firefighter that day. He was 51.
He was one of the mainstays of our league," said Steve Kropp, league president. "He was such a good friend of mine and a mentor."
The field was built by volunteers several years ago. It was dedicated to Gary a year after the Sept. 11 attacks.
