Street Festival Invades Bellmore

Thousands pack into the area for the annual extravaganza.

It’s the premier street festival on Long Island.

That’s the way Legis. Dave Denenberg, D-Merrick, described the Bellmore Street Festival, which is certainly the place to be this weekend in Nassau County.

“It’s absolutely great,” Denenberg said. “A lot of credit needs to be given to the Chamber of Commerce and Nassau County Police for making this a safe event for everyone to enjoy.”

Vendors have packed the streets of Bellmore, from Sunrise Highway, all the way through Bellmore Village. Of course, there are the rides as well, and several other fun options, including a lane for bowling, a huge slide, a petting zoo, pony ride, shark tank and much more.

“It’s a great way to bring families together in Bellmore,” Assemblyman Dave McDonough, R-Merrick, said. “This gets bigger and better every year.”

There are also plenty of food options, including a big food stand run by the Bellmore Lions Club. Several Bedford Avenue businesses also set up cooking stations. “We couldn’t have dreamed for this to go any better,” Martha Verdi, the festival coordinator, said. “We’re very pleased.”

Patch has a look at the first day of the festivities in Bellmore. On Sunday, the street festival will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Natalie. I am so sorry to read this. I too have a little 5 yr. old dog who I love desperately...Read More and I feel your pain. There is another website for an organization that does an amazing job finding lost pets. It's LOSTMYDOGGIE.COM There is a small fee, but they get signs up all over the area and have a phone system set up where everyone in the area of where she was lost gets a PHONE CALL ALERT message to watch for Molly. They leave a phone number and their website address so if anyone has seen her or has her they know where to call. Great system! Check it out! I've never used them, but I HAVE received calls myself recently on 2 separate lost dogs and I've seen the many photos they hung up in my area in Levittown for dogs lost within a few miles of this area. In other words, they DO what they say they will do to help find Molly. Just want you to know what is out there to help you bring Molly home. My grandkids go to school around Grand and Camp Ave. We'll be watching for her! God Bless and good luck! I'm sure she will be returned to you real soon!!
